A little bit about Mary.

When asked about her greatest motivation in life, Mary Hagen reflected upon her extensive career and dedicated that title to both her parents and her husband. As a child, her parents gave her the foundation of support and love necessary for Mary to fully lean in and pursue her passions. They also taught her the importance of perseverance, diligence, and hard work in order to build the life she had dreamed for herself. Throughout her career, Mary’s husband has been unwavering in his encouragement, which has fueled her confidence and pushed her to achieve her loftiest goals. Mary carries these lessons and support into her career, and she is now a thriving serial entrepreneur and proud CEO of Colossal. 

At the young age of 19, Mary launched into entrepreneurship by ideating, building, and implementing her first business within the fitness industry. Although she did attend Pattern University in Oakland, CA for a time on a softball scholarship to study Sociology, she quickly set her sights on a more fruitful career path. Over the years, Mary has designed and launched numerous successful brands and companies, including a sports wellness and exercise theory platform, an online membership coffee shop, and an innovative digital tool to help businesses stop competitors from plagiarizing their work, among many others. Notably, she even established a women’s outdoor apparel company from the ground up!

Although Mary has cherished and deeply believed in every single one of the businesses she has built, it was the process of creating that she fell in love with. From the initial development stages to successful marketing of the products and services, Mary has an innate understanding of everything that makes a sustainable business function. She eventually founded Hagen Companies, which serves as the overarching parent company that owns and operates the other companies she has developed. 

Under the umbrella of Hagen Companies, Mary has developed countless brands, businesses, and opportunities from various sectors. These industries include, but are not limited to, moving and storage, customer review forums, interior design, technology, and restaurants. By developing these organizations, Mary has gained extensive knowledge in all facets of business, including what works and what doesn’t. Leading a team of experts to the finish line and watching her businesses flourish is, by far, one of the most fulfilling aspects of her career. Passionate about giving back and leaving a positive impact, Mary now serves as the CEO of Colossal— a company designed to facilitate worldwide online competitions that raise money and awareness for charities. 

With her extensive experience in business development, Mary’s primary role is contributing her expertise as a leader in business to help grow Colossal’s positive reach and value. From expert marketing insights, perceptive consulting, innovative growth plans, and leadership coaching, Mary continues to greatly contribute to the longevity and growth of the company. From the time she was initially hired in 2020, Colossal has quadrupled in size and is ongoing in effectively promoting and assisting charitable causes and organizations from all around the planet.

Mary testifies that she is in awe of the extraordinary professionals she gets to work with every single day, and she is impressed by their persistent drive to leave the world a better place than how they found it. She feels honored to give the same support and opportunities to young professionals that were offered to her when she first stepped into the world of business.

As an avid animal lover, Mary always tries to find a way for her businesses to give back to support creatures in need. Many of her ventures have been driven to support organizations like PAWS, the SPCA and Humane Society.

When she is away from the office, Mary enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their family of rescue animals, reading and furthering her own professional development through certificate programs and MasterClasses. Even when she is not working, Mary is consistently researching her industry to stay updated on today’s best practices and trends in business. After all, it is her ongoing mission to offer the best insights and advice to drive groundbreaking initiatives and changes for a better future.
